Default Nerfing.

So I've been playing guild wars for about a month, and having a great time. Still am. But I've noticed a lot of things being "nerfed" and I feel a bit left out on what others have done before. Why do the nerfing when other people already have some advantages?

ie. Farming. Those who have farmed a lot before are more set than I am. When I started farming, I was getting golds and purples now and then, now it's just...horns and wings. This gets frustrating because what I want to buy is now a bit more unreachable. And to those who have farmed and saved up before, is set. I don't know what they really accomplished in nerfing the drops from farming, but I just feel a bit left out.

I would like to continue complaining about it, but don't think that's the best idea.

What do you all feel about the nerfing? Can any of you post what else has been nerfed? Or any other changes that seem unfair?

Mostly it's just a case of ANet making the best of a bad situation. You can't very well take away the stuff that people farmed before nerfs, but they obviously don't want people spending all their time farming. So they try different things to get people to play the game the way they intended it to be played.

And yes that FoW armor is supposed to be nearly unreachable. Personally I think what they really need to do is make all the best gear rewards for incredibly difficult quests rather than something that you could potentially buy with enough gold. Like with the FoW armor. Take away the need for ectoplasm and obsidian but make the quest insanely difficult. And by difficult I do mean difficult. Enough so that thunderhead keep looks like a baby in a walker and the new Final Assault quest in Sorrow's Furnace is a walk in the park. Then the reward would truly be a representation of skill rather than sheer persistance in farming (or god forbid, obtaining gold illegally).

I farmed for 15K armour and a celestial sigil. On reflection, neither was worth the time spent on farming. Collector items are usually as good as the majority of golds that drop, and can in most circumstances be upgraded to be superior to all but the rarest golds. Runes are, in the whole, incredibly cheap now. PvP players can unlock them via PvP, PvE players will find them during quests/missions - chests are a great source of runes.

What Anet have done with the balancing is reward those that *play* the game more and reduced the gains from farming - a change I fully support. As for those players with millions of gold, there is only so much they can spend it on. They may be able to outbid you for a gold item, but they are no more likely to get a rare gold drop, a green or win against you in a PvP match simply due to the money they have*.

*arguably runes and 'uber' weapons could make a difference, but it's a more of a general point.

Alone, there are still lots of ways to make gold and get good weapons but it isn't as easy as the golden age of farming. Oh and the horns and wings soon add up to a good amount of money but it just means you have to farm longer
Good luck.
